International culture dinner on Tuesday 3/30
Please bring an authentic Hispanic dish, enough to feed 5-8 people on Tuesday 3/30. Please remember that your recipe must be pre-approved by your teacher, and you must provide your own cooler or crock pot if you need one. Please DO NOT ASK TEACHERS TO REFRIGERATE OR WARM UP YOUR FOOD.

Finals and upcoming dates
Spanish 2:
Period 2, your final will be on January 20th.
Period 3, your final will be on January 21st.

Portfolios are due Tuesday January 12th (remember your typed essay and outline, you also need your old rubric).

Christmas fun
We are working on our bulletin boards, and they will be judged today after school.
Please don't forget to bring what you signed up for, for our Christmas party tomorrow, and don't forget your song packets, we will be caroling in Spanish during our parties.

Due today
The Christmas traditions letter is due today. Spanish 2 has to write a one to one and a half-page letter, and Spanish IV has to write a two-page letter in Spanish talking about the Christmas traditions Hispanics have. The letter was asigned last week on Wednesday, and it must be typed, single-spaced, and in the required format. Please refer to your rubric for more information.
If you are absent you must email me your letter at johana_jennings@etownschools.org by the end of the school day.

International culture dinner is Friday 10/30. Please bring a Hispanic dish, enough for 6-8 people. You must provide your own cooler or warm bag/crock pot. Please use disposable containers and serving utensils when possible.
**Recipes must be approved by your teacher a week before the event.
Come prepared to eat!

¡Bienvenidos! I hope you are as excited as I am for the start of the school year. I hope you all had a great summer, and that you are ready to learn a lot of Spanish.

Welcome to the new semester of Spanish. I am very excited for the opportunity to work with you all. For Spanish class you need a binder with 6 dividers and paper. You will also have to sign and have your parents sign the slip of paper at the end of the class syllabus.

Christmas letters in Spanish projects
Spanish II and IV are writing christmas letters in Spanish, which are due December 23rd. They received a rubric in class. For Spanish II the letter must be 1 to 1 and 1/2 pages long, and for Spanish IV, it must be two full pages.
The letters must contain facts about Chtristmas in Hispanic countries, and it must be typed (12 font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins all around, and only the body of the letter is double-spaced).

International Culture Dinner Thursday 11/13
Reminder to please bring your food dishes this Thursday. Please use disposable containers and serving utensils. If they are left behind they will be thrown away.
*Please pre-cut your food so it's ready to serve during your period
**We cannot refrigerate or warm up your food, you must provide a cooler or crock pot.

Portofolios are due this Thursday 10/23
Remember that you must hand in your portofolio with an outline and an essay (both in English, please refer to your rubric) to receive credit, and that they are worth 10% of your total grade for the marking period.

International Culture Dinner project 11/13
You will make a dish from a Spanish-speaking country of your choice (please note that Brazil and Jamaica are not Spanish-speaking countries). and bring it in on November 13th to share with the class (it must feed 6-8 people).

Hola, please remember that you need to have a three-ring binder for this class. You need to keep all the work that we do and file it using the prescribed dividers (please refer to the portfolio hand out). I will be checking them this Friday September 5th.
