Hi, we will start a new unit, lesson 2 in the textbook. We will be learning how to talk in the past in Spanish, and we will continue to learn new vocabulary. Please review your flashcards at home, and do your homework, it really helps to learn the concepts studied in class. There is no homework today (9/16).
Last night homework was to illustrate (draw pictures with some sentences) the story we created in class (if you were absent, I have a copy for you). I hope you enjoyed it, and get used to it because we will be doing a lot of stories and a lot of different activities that have to do with the stories. This is a great way to learn vocabulary and grammar in context (so that it makes sense).
You need to practice and review the present tense and how to conjugate verbs in the present tense:
There are three kinds of verbs, verbs that end in "ar", "er", and "ir". To conjugate a verb, you take off the "ar", "er", or "ir" and add the appropriate endings.
Ar: o, as, a, amos, ais, an
Er: o, es, e, emos, eis, en
Ir: o, es, e, imos, is, en

For example: hablar-to speak
yo hablo, tú hablas, él /ella/usted habla, nosotros hablamos, vosotros habláis, ellos/ellas/ustedes hablan

You also need to study the irregular verbs (the ones that don't follow the pattern above)
saber-to know- yo sé, tú sabes
traer-to bring- yo traigo, tú traes
poner-to put- yo pongo, tú pones
estar-to be (places, feelings)- yo estoy, tú estás
hacer-to do- yo hago, tú haces
tener-to have- yo tengo, tú tienes
salir-to leave or go out- yo salgo, tú sales
venir-to come- yo vengo, tú vienes
decir-to say or to tell- yo digo, tú dices
dar-to give- yo doy, tú das
ser-to be (adjectives, time, weather)- yo soy, tú eres
ir-to go- yo voy, tú vas
poder-to be able to/can- yo puedo, tú puedes

Finally, you need to sutudy your vocabulary (the packet I gave you)
